Deputies from the LDPR submitted for consideration a bill on the introduction of a new holiday in Russia – the Day of the Capture of Paris on March 31. The holiday is associated with the capture of Paris during the war of 1812-1814.
“Submitted for consideration <…> March 31 — the day of the capture of Paris and the victorious end of the Patriotic War of 1812 and the foreign campaigns of the Russian army of 1813-1814,” the text of the document says, it was published in electronic database of bills of the State Duma. Its authors were a group of deputies from the Liberal Democratic Party.
The Russian army, together with the allied troops, entered Paris on March 30. After that, the battle began for the city. This battle was one of the bloodiest for the Allied armies. So, the Russian side lost 6,000 soldiers. On the night of March 31, the French side signed the surrender.
